How to Split up a Large PST File Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003?

Method 1. Split PST Using Archive Feature

  1. Open MS Outlook and select desired PST file
  2. Go to File and click Archive.
  3. Archive dialogue box will appear, select checkbox of Archive this folder & all subfolders and then the required folder from the list appearing.
  4. Now, from Archive items older than drop down box, click date.
  5. Click Browse, select path as well as name for new PST file.
  6. After this, click OK.

Note: The new created PST file will appear as Archive Folders in Mail Folders

Method 2. Split PST Using Move to Folder Structure

  1. Navigate to File option of Outlook, click New and select Outlook Data File.
  2. A new Outlook Data File dialogue box appears, select Office Outlook Personal Folders File and hit OK.
  3. Select desired path as well as name of file.
  4. Now, from Create Microsoft Personal Folders box, provide displayed name of PST in given Name
  5. Select desired items to move into new created PST
  6. Click Edit and choose Move to Folder
  7. From Move Items box, click New.
  8. In Create New Folder dialogue box, specify name for fresh folder in Name
  9. Click New PST option in Select where to place the folder and hit OK.
  10. Under Move Items dialogue box, ensure to choose new PST file and press OK.

Method 3. Split PST File Using PST Split Tool

  1. Run PST Split Tool on Windows machine.
  2. The tool will launch and show five split options on the screen such as Split PST by Date, Size, Year, Folder etc. Choose the desired one and hit Next.
  3. Click Select PST file and add source PST file. Simultaneously, apply sub-options accordingly.
  4. Set location to save PST file after split using Browse button and press Next.
  5. The tool will show PST Split process summary report. In case, if want to change something, go back to previous option by clicking Backup button otherwise use Split button to continue.
  6. Software will immediately start the splitting process and once it completes, it will show successful message on the screen “Conversion Completed Successfully”. Click Save Report to save PST in CSV format.
